How to Get Free Traffic to your Website
How do I get traffic to my website? Isn’t that a question all website owners ask?
I am going to share with you a free and easy method to get traffic to your website.
Here’s how you do it: be sociable on the Internet.
What do I mean: be sociable? I mean that you show yourself to be a real and nice person on the Internet as you would in the physical world. In the physical world when you go to a social gathering (pub, party, networking function, etc), you meet new people, you introduce yourself to new people, you get introduced to new people, and you yourself introduce people you know to other people they may not know. That’s how you enlarge your group of friends (or network).
On the Internet you can do the same thing, especially on the social media websites such as Facebook or Twitter and the Blogosphere (a fancy word for the universe of blogs). The social media websites are excellent for keeping in touch with your friends and making new friends. You can attract traffic to your website through making friends online.
In this post, I’m going to share with you one free method you can use to attract traffic to your website. It’s by engaging into the conversation on other people’s blogs through commenting. When you comment on someone’s blog, you can leave your name, email address and your website address. When your comment shows up on the blog, your name will become a link with your website address. The ability to leave your website address on someone’s blog enables the readers of your comment to check your website – that’s free traffic to your website.
So, make a lot of comments out there on the Blogosphere. Find active blogs and join the conversation. Follow people who’ve commented on your blog to their blog and keep following the people who’ve commented on their blog.
However, I just want to bring to your attention that there is a mistake you need to avoid when you start commenting on the website of people who do not know you. Avoid being mistaken for being a comment spammer.
I will give you some tips on how to avoid being mistaken for a comment spammer on my next post.
Action Steps
1. If you haven’t left a comment on someone’s blog, go ahead leave a comment on this blog.
2. Find the comment of someone who’s commented on my blog post and click on their name and visit their website.
3. Leave a comment there.

Have you enabled a poll ? I cannot see it.
To experience what you have set out, I followed the comments made by Patricia on your site, read her lavender blog, watching how other bloggers have built up a steady correspondence with her. Very personal and very friendly.

Ben, you are right commenting on other blogs can lead to more traffic and the amount of traffic generated is dependent on the quality of your comment. For example, a comment that adds value to a post and shows others your expertise in what you are saying will lead to more traffic than leaving a comment that has little or no value, comments like nice post or I agree with everything you said.
It’s obvious to me from the comment you left on my post that you are acutely aware of this fact.

Thanks Sire, you make an important point there to Ben’s post. I have been spending some time tonight getting out there and being social – and its fun in fact especially when you find blogs which you can make a real and pertinent comment on. I also find it interesting to comment on blogs that I don’t actually agree with.. and wonder then whether those comments will be posted! Sometimes lose the spot to get back to them to check!!

Not a problem Shazar. You know though, as long as you read through the post properly you will normally find something to comment on and when that doesn’t work reading through some of the comments can trigger off a good comment.

Hi Shazar,
Here’s a tip on how to keep track of the comments you make. I have a spreadsheet Google document, where I record the date and the url of the website I’ve left a comment. I can always go back later to check if my comment has been approved.
Another tip: yahoo “linkdomain:yoururl.com”. This will tell you where you’ve left a comment with your link.

Hi Ben
Sorry I haven’t been in touch. Been recovering from the flu and now a chest infection! Coupled with my laptop crashing there have been a few bumps in the road. Hope we can still have a Perth blogging group. Just email me if you have any more thought on it.
I am finding with commenting on other people’s blogs means I am meeting such great people. Aussie Sire is one in question who has encouraged me heaps with visiting my site and commenting. I am building up some great friendships in the blogging community and it has surprised me how much I have had to offer to different conversations.
Cos I often go to techie sites to learn; I have been pleasantly surprised that when they visit my site I can actually teach them about some aspect of gardening or natural health.
Looking forward to visiting your blog again and learning some more from you. Happy blogging.

In june I noticed a huge spike in traffic, I attribute that to the fact that I started participating more on other peoples blog.
Great tip on using a spreadsheet to keep track of comments and urls. I have just been book marketing sites that I want to revisit. Using a spreadsheet makes more sense.
Thanks for sharing
